Deaths

The death has occurred of Mary Hefferon (nee Horan) Carrowcubic, Ballycastle.

Funeral will arrive to St. Bridget's Church, Ballycastle tomorrow (Thursday) for Requiem Mass at 12.00noon with burial afterwards in Ballycastle Cemetery .

Sympathy is extended to her daughter Mairéad, son-in-law Marty, grandsons, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives and friends.

Mary taught in Ballycastle National School for a number of years.

May she rest in peace.

 

Sympathy is extended to Declan Clinton on the death of his uncle Kevin Loftus, Crossmolina.

May he rest in peace.

 

Sympathy is also extended to Eileen Healy on the death of her sister-in-law Maidia Papworth (nee Healy, late of Carrowmore), in England .

May she rest in peace.

 

Cycling News

First Club outing of the year is in Castlebar on Saturday 27th "Cycle up for epilepsy". Please have your Club and Cycling Ireland membership paid.

 

The Club are pleased to announce they raised over €9,000 for different charities in 2015 and hope to top this in 2016.

Club spins start back on the Saturday 5th March. All welcome.

Turbo training classes for beginners Thursdays at 8pm in Ballycastle Hall. All welcome to come, it's a great way to get fit and great fun. Ring 0863225128 for more details.

 

Club and Cycling Ireland Membership is now due and should be given to Cara Finnerty.

Anyone hoping to go on the Club weekend away to cycle the Tour de Connemara in Clifden on May 28th contact Mairtin Flannery, Noel Kelly or Peter Regan.

 

Cycling for beginners

Are you new to cycling or just getting back into riding?

Would you like to cycle the Giro de Baile on July 31st? If so, Baile an Chaisil CC club spins for beginners, with the intention of getting you ready for the Giro de Baile, start back on Saturday 5th March at 9am from the Shambles, Ballycastle.

Giro de Baile 2016

Registration is now open for the Giro de Baile 2016.

If you have club mates, friends or family who are considering entering the event we would encourage you to register as early as possible. Once we reach the event capacity of 500 cyclists, there will be no further entries accepted. Register at Eventbrite Giro de Baile.

Applications are now being sought from Mayo-based charities or Sport Clubs who are interested in being a beneficiary of this year's Giro de Baile.

Kiddies Korner

Kiddies Korner is now taking enrolment for September 2016. We offer both subvention and free pre-school year (ECCE) schemes. Children must be a minimum of

2yrs 6 months on start date.

Golf Society

Next outing is to Strandhill Golf Club on 5th March. 1st tee is at 11am so please be there for 10.30am. For more information contact David Alexander on 0877965080.

Leader Programme

Moy Valley Resources IRD is hosting LEADER community information meeting in Ballycastle Community Hall on Monday 22nd February at 7.30pm. All welcome.  The purpose of the meetings is to update and inform individuals, communities and businesses on the new EU LEADER programme, which is due to come on stream in Mayo in late Spring, and help them to identify potential projects for funding under the programme. Opening times for the Gymnasium in Ballycastle Community Hall are:

Prices: €5 per visit, €20 per month, €50 for 3 months or €120 per year.

Craft Shop is located in the Resource Centre, Upper Main Street stocking goods by local craftworkers e.g. knitwear, crochet, handmade cards, wooden bowls, cushions, cot quilts, etc.

Ballycastle souvenir items e.g. candles, fridge magnets, keyrings, bookmarks, biros, teabag holders, St. Brigid's Crosses, Mayo Crystal and a range of other items.
