Ballycastle
(Baile an Chaisil - meaning Town of the Castle) is a village
on the North West coast of Ireland approximately 26km from
Ballina. Five Miles west are the Céide Fields - the oldest
Stone Age settlement in Europe. The road here runs close to
the magnificent cliffs of Céide which are 365 ft high.
The
Sea Stack known as 'Dún Briste' can be seen at Downpatrick
Head approx. 3 miles north of the village. Here too, is a
puffing hole known as 'Poll na Seantaine' with subterranean
channel to the sea.
