Exhibition
at the Ballinglen Gallery
An
Exhibition by well known Dublin based Artist Cora O'Brien
takes place at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation with the official
Opening on Friday 21st August at 8.30p.m. Viewing 7.30p.m.
- 10.00 p.m. Landscape, still life and portraiture,
experimenting with composition, light, colour and technique.
Her work is in many public and private collections in Ireland
and abroad.
The Paintings in this exhibition focuses on Cora's response
to elements of farming and landscape around Ballycastle, Co
Mayo.
The main body of work has emerged from observation of Marts,
and the Ballina livestock Mart in particular. She was fascinated
by the subject matter presented, the sheer bulk and shapes
of the cattle, and their movements, both graceful and orderly.
The atmospheric conditions of the interior, provided by light
from skylights and partly opened doorways, the reflections
on wet floor surfaces, the myriad of patterns, shapes and
range of colours.
The human interest, mainly farmers, inspecting, bidding and
socialising, all provided inspiration and a wealth of new
knowledge on this compelling subject.
Do
come along and enjoy this wonderful exhibition of paintings.
Refreshments
served and everyone is welcome.
