Mayo West Sligo Heritage Group is presenting a lecture on
The Connaught Rangers in the Merry Monk, Killala Road on Fri.
night 24th Jan. at 8pm. The speaker Oliver Fallon Vice Chairman
& researcher Connaught Rangers Association has entitled
his presentation ‘North Mayo Men in The Trenches' which will
give an insight into people from the Mayo/Sligo region who
served with the Connaught Rangers in the Great War. The level
of recruitment was extremely high in the Ballina/surrounding
parishes-believed to be in excess of 500. There would possibly
be recruits from this parish also-most would not return. We
extend a warm welcome to everyone who may be interested in
this lecture on this the centenary of these events.
