Cycling Club

Well done to all who took part in the first Ballycastle 35k cycle in very trying conditions on New Year's Day - Dermot Kelly, Eileen McHale, Micheal McHale, Derek Scott, Máirtín Flannery, Lee Ann Finnerty, Cara Finnerty Gilvarry, Donal Gilvarry, Collette Hyland, Paul Whelan, Craig Kelly, Noel Kelly.

A big thank you to the out riders, Tommy Flannery, Denise Murphy, Alice O'Connell, Purtach O'Thaidhg, Rosaleen Flannery, Gerry Murphy, Michael Kelly.

A massive thank you to The Wolf Dog Tavern, Killala and Katie Macs for the refreshments.

North Mayo West Sligo Heritage Group

North Mayo West Sligo Heritage Group is presenting a lecture on The Connaught Rangers in the Merry Monk, Killala Road on Fri. night 24th Jan. at 8pm. The speaker Oliver Fallon Vice Chairman & researcher Connaught Rangers Association has entitled his presentation ‘North Mayo Men in The Trenches' which will give an insight into people from the Mayo/Sligo region who served with the Connaught Rangers in the Great War. The level of recruitment was extremely high in the Ballina/surrounding parishes-believed to be in excess of 500. There would possibly be recruits from this parish also-most would not return. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who may be interested in this lecture on this the centenary of these events.

Congratulations to Michelle Healy, Seaview Place who won the luxury Hamper in the Irish Cancer Society draw which took place in the Seaview Lounge on Christmas Eve.

 

Deaths

Sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Oliver Farrell, Bunclody who died recently (Brother of Bridget Gaughan, Seaview).

Sympathy is also extended to the relatives and friends of Benedict Francis Tighe, late of Cabintown who died recently.

Over 55's Club

Over 55's Keep Fit continues in Suífinn Way Centre every Tuesday at 11.30a.m. Outside fitness equipment available to all adults in Suífinn Way Centre.

Exhibition

“A Drawing for Everything” an exhibition of paintings and drawings by Nuala Clarke will continue until January 31st 2014 in the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Main Street , Ballycastle.

 

Craft Shop

Craft Shop is located in the Resource Centre, Upper Main Street stocking goods by local craftworkers e.g. knitwear, crochet, handmade cards, wooden bowls, cushions, cot quilts, etc.

Ballycastle souvenir items e.g. candles, fridge magnets, keyrings, biros, teabag holders, St. Brigid's crosses and more.

Also, Paintings by local artists, Mayo Crystal and a range of other items.
