‘The Gathering' Festival

Some of the events that will take place during Ballycastle Festival which will run from 1st – 10th August are:

Soap car racing

Soap car racing comes to Ballycastle on the August Bank Holiday Monday as part of the street festival. People are asked to make their own go-carts and enter them before the day. There will be 3 categories: 10-13years, 13-16years and an adult section. All go-carts must be powered by gravity alone. Contact Máirtín Flannery, Liam O'Toole or John Burke for more details.

Céide Rose

The ‘Céide Rose' competition returns on the 1st August and gets top billing on the opening night of the festival. The winner is selected based on her personality and she should be a good role model for the festival and for Ballycastle/Belderrig during the week as she will present most of the prizes and be centre stage for most of the events. In contrast to beauty pageants, The Céide Rose bills itself as a celebration of the "aspirations, ambitions, intellect, social responsibility and Irish heritage" of modern young women. Contact Ann O'Donnell, Rosaleen Flannery, Deirdre Kelly or Hannah Kelly for more details.

Flotilla of boats
One of the highlights of the festival will be the flotilla of boats leaving Ballycastle pier and arriving at Belderrig pier. This is a special occasion that will be talked about in years to come, so come and be a part of it. All people or boats wanting to take part in this event must be registered before taking part. Contact Tommy Flannery, Jimmy Healy, T.J. Flannery, Martin McCann or Noel Kelly for more details

All events and time tables can be viewed on our facebook page - Ballycastle/Belderrig Gathering or on Barrett's pub window.
