Fleadh Mhaigh Eo returns to Ballycastle

On May 8-10th , Fleadh Mhaigh Eo, 2009, returns to Ballycastle this year after a very successful Fleadh in 2008. The Parochial Hall, Primary School, St Patrick's College (former Convent) and St John's Hall are the venues where the action will take place. The Fleadh is an event for young and old but especially the under eighteen's on Saturday May 9th . This is an opportunity for these young traditional musicians, singers and dancers to display their expertise and to fulfil their wish of being selected to participate in the Connaught Fleadh.

Sunday is the day for the over eighteens where the veterans of Irish music, song and dance do friendly battle with each other for a place in the Connaught Fleadh. These are the adult performers who have developed their own personal style of music and by participating in the Fleadh they are actually handing down their expertise to the next generation. There are band competitions, grúpaí ceoil, workshops and Labhairt na Gaeilge throughout the weekend.

There is a concert on Friday 8th in the Community Hall and a Céilí on Saturday 9th with the Carousel Céilí Band.
