Turtle
at Ballycastle Pier
A
large Turtle, seven ft long, weighing approximately one ton
and approximately 400 years old was caught in fishing nets
off Downpatrick Head yesterday evening and brought ashore
to Ballycastle Pier. Unfortunately, the turtle is dead.
It is unsure as yet whether it was dead when it became caught
in the net or died on the way to shore. (Click on

Well
done to the Ballycastle/Lacken under – 15 girls community
games indoor soccer team who won the County title on Monday
19th . Ballycastle/Lacken beat Kiltane 5 – 1 with goals
from Niamh Collins (3) and Rachel Healy (2). Ballycastle/Lacken
now go on to the Connaught Semi-Final in Roscommon on the
22nd
July.

Congratulations

Church, Ballycastle on Friday last.
Celebration
of Signal Towers
This
year is the celebration of 200 Hundred years of Signal Towers
around Ireland. On Thursday 29th June at 2.00p.m. a
fire will be lit on Downpatrick Head at the old signal tower.
A short Prayer service will follow for all the people
who have been lost at sea and off our coast.
On
Sunday 20th August at 2.00p.m. fires will be lit at all signal
tower locations around the coast of Ireland (including Downpatrick
Head).
