Art Exhibition

Ballycastle Art Group Annual Art Exhibition ‘Fáilte' will take place on Saturday 1st June 2013 in the Resource Centre Gallery, Ballycastle. Official opening at 8.30p.m. by Vivian Woods. Cheese and wine reception. Fáilte róimh go léir.

Exhibition will remain open Monday – Friday 10.00a.m. – 5.00p.m. Open June Bank Holiday weekend Sunday and Monday 12.00noon – 4.00p.m.

This year the group have brought the Exhibition forward from the August weekend to June Bank Holiday weekend as a contribution to the ‘Gathering ‘13'.

The ladies this year have concentrated on the tranquil landscape around our scenic village, the wild coastline and dramatic skies. The mediums are acrylic, oil and watercolours. Deaths

Sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of Aidan Walsh who died recently (brother of Bridget Langan, Doonfeeney).

Sympathy is also extended to Mary & Seamus Lavin on the death of Mary's brother Johnny Farrell, Conaghrea, recently.

May they rest in peace.

Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi Procession will take place on Sunday next after 11.30a.m. Mass – weather permitting.

 

Céide Fields

The Céide Fields Visitor Centre has been open for 20 years and is still going strong. Come and see what nearly 700,000 people from all over the world have experienced so far. Free admission for all on Wednesday 5th June. Open daily 10.00a.m. – 6.00p.m.

 

Dev. Co. AGM

Ballycastle/Belderrig Development Company AGM on Wednesday 19th June at 9.00p.m. in the resource Centre. Community Development projects are currently being set up and we would ask that anyone interested in being part of the team please attend. New members very welcome.

Belderrig Bronzeman

Belderrig Bronzeman competition takes place on Saturday 3rd August 2013. Swim>Cycle>Run. The main Bronzeman Race for men and women is a 100m swim followed by a 4km cycle and 4km run.

Men's Race starts at 2.00p.m.

Ladies Race and Relay starts at 2.30p.m.

 

Junior Bronzeman and Mini Bronzeman Races on the day also.

Junior Bronzeman for children 10 – 15yrs starts at 1.00p.m.

Mini Bronzeman for children 5 – 9yrs starts at 4.00p.m.

 

Registration at the shore 12.00noon – 1.00p.m.

 

If you can't take part in the race, take part in supporting the athletes and enjoying yourself at our community event. Food and beverages for sale, served in the tent by the shore.

Mayo G.A.A. Junior Football Championship - Group 4 (Round 1):
Ballycastle were defeated by Ballintubber on Sunday last.

Craft Shop

 

Craft Shop is located in the Resource Centre, Upper Main Street stocking goods by local craftworkers e.g. knitwear, crochet, handmade cards, candles, fridge magnets, wooden bowls, cushions etc.

Also, Paintings by local artists, Mayo Crystal and a range of other items.

Tourist Information, Fax, Laminating, Photocopying, Typing.

Opening Hours: Monday – Friday 10.00a.m. – 5.00p.m. (closed for lunch 1 – 2.00p.m.)

Classes

Art Class on Mondays at 7.00p.m. in Suífinn Way Centre.

 

Set Dancing class on Wednesdays at 9pm. in St. John's Hall.

 

Music classes in St John's Hall on Saturdays 11.00a.m. – 12.30p.m..

 

Irish Dancing classes continue every Monday and Thursday, in St John's Hall, Ballycastle from 5pm till 6.30pm. New members are always welcome. Children can start from age 3 up.

 

Library

Library is now located in the VEC Building (former Secondary School) and is open on Wednesdays from 9.30a.m. – 4.00p.m.

 

Outdoor Gym

The new outdoor fitness gym in Suífinn Way Estate is open to anybody over the age of 50. The equipment is clearly marked with instructions on how to use each individual piece.
