G.A.A.

Over 160 people attended the Annual G.A.A./Community Dinner Dance in the Ramada Hotel, Ballina last Saturday night.   The Guest Speaker was James Nallen.   Other speakers on the night were Eddie Cuffe

(President of the County G.A.A. Board), Paddy McNicholas (Vice Chairman) and Michael Timlin

(Treasurer of the North Mayo Board).  

The Hall of fame winner this year was George McLucas, originally from Killerduff, Ballycastle.  

Tony D'Arcy, M.C. on the night, told the large crowd that Mr McLucas played for Ballycastle in the

mid-forties, then emigrated to England.

Presentation of other awards were made by James Nallen to the following:

Clubmen of the Year :   Aidan Tighe (Club Treasurer) and Declan Caulfield (Club Secretary)

Junior Player of the Year : Shane Healy

Most improved Junior Player:   Gerard Nealon

Young Junior Player :    Anthony Tighe

Under 21 Player :   Patrick Tighe

Most improved U-21 Player :   Richard Bonner

Minor Player:   Shane McHale

Music was by the excellent Duets Band.

Frankie Scanlon.
